Awesome!!!

I have a new favourite word... Awesome!! (Said with the jockish drawl)

It's raining now, which is sooo awesome because it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy when other people out at school are freezing their leg hairs off and having their umbrellas blown in their faces. (I was in that sad predicament about an hour ago when I ended lecture) But now I'm safe, warm and comfy in my room with no sun in my room. Which, once again, is AweSOmme!!

Haha. Excuse my slight madness, no I'm not high on drugs or beer or goon or whatever shit they ingest. Just that this morning was pretty good cos the hostel baked croissants for breakfast! My eyes lit up with delight like a 2 year old getting chocolates because International House(IH) makes fantastic croissants and hadn't done so for ages. I'd been craving for the Fantastic Croissants for weeks now! I told a couple of people sitting with me that I was so happy to have croissants that I felt like I was back home in singapore. Not because they tasted like the ones in Singapore(which suck) but because I was so happy it was as good as me being back home. Can understand?

It was really funny when one of the Austrailian guys we were sitting with said he really had trouble understanding us when we spoke really fast and with no intonation, as we Singaporeans like to do. Even if we do speak with our regular levels of intonation, it still isn't quite like how they intonate. I find it really interesting doing Speech in Australia because speech/language problems don't just arise from being hit in the head too hard or have short tongues etc but also from learning English as a second language. Cultural background is quite a major issue when it comes to Speech. (I see a potential honours thesis coming from here. )

Anyways, here're a couple of pictures since I decided to do a mid-week update because of the AwEsomme weather. :D

The multi-coloured tangyuan we made last week! I think they would've tasted much better without colouring. But they did look really cute though. My Aussie floormate who ate some said, and I quote, 'It's like nothing I've ever eaten before! It was just.. weird! But nice.' Another guy called it fluffy in his mouth. I reckon it didn't go down too well with him. haha.

And this is how it looks like when it's raining, I just took this picture from my table like 4 minutes ago. As you can see everyone draws their curtains except me.
Awesomme... doood.. ahhyuk ahyuk!

Guess who I met?

No, I didn't meet Hugh Jackman, that hunky chunky Austrailian (sadly). But I did meet someone from our shss days, something I never thought would happen. I met Ms Sharon Teo! Remember that super nice and hype relief PE teacher we had? Aka Aaron Teo's sister. Aiping she remembers you! haha. I was describing which batch I was from and I told her, the one with Aiping. Immediately she went, 'oh ya, Aiping and gang, all the netballers one' Haha. At least she didn't say, ' Oh ya, Aiping the gila one.' heh heh!

It was so nice to see her and talking to her was the easiest thing ever, it was as if I was talking to someone I knew for ages. Honestly sometimes I can get pretty worn down and frustrated here, because all my close friends are so far away and as easy as it is to call/sms/msn, there're still it's limitations. It doesn't help that most of you guys sleep late and I sleep really early, so it just widens our time zone difference by another 2 hours, haha. I appreciate having people here I know, and knowing more people as well, but sometimes everyday seems like a social event. Yesterday I was telling Siyi that I didn't feel like socialising by going out for dinner with a group of people we knew, and that I would rather either go back home or go out with Aaron and his Ipswich gang. This may seem contradictory - isn't that still considered socialising? But the difference I guess was the fact that I've know Aaron for relatively long, and hanging out with him doesn't constitute 'socialising', because you don't socialise with friends, you socialise to make friends. Well that's how I felt but shhh don't tell anyone. Haha.

Sometimes weekends are such a pain in the ass because the day is long and you're obliged to stay in and do work and not get distracted, which of course I do a lot. I ended up watch Wild Child instead of reading up on Language Disorders in Children. Gah. Watching movies are so unhealthy. Anyways allow me to take movie orders. It takes me like 2 minutes to download one movie. Feel free to throw suggestions and requests at me. =)

Anyways it's 8am and I need to go collect my laundry.

Miss you guys as always!! ( Nat I just realised that Easter break week is gonna be REALLY quite bad for Aaron and I cos of assignments, there're days that I might just force you to sit down and read so that I study, haha. So bring entertainment in case ok! Or we can buy craft stuff and you can do it in my room.) Love ya!

Lazy Sunday

Sunday's just get lazier and lazier by the week, somehow it always seems to be scorching on Sunday afternoons, thus naturally inducing everyone to sleep after lunch. Today Aaron (the one who has the mnost trouble staying awake in church) and I concluded that we've officially swapped positions - and I'm the one with the sleep issues now.

All right I promised Feifei pictures of UQ! Honestly, they're quite disappointing because I just walked as far as the Law building before getting to lazy and going back for dinner at 530. Yes dinner is at 530 everyday because the staff want to go home. So behold! The pictures!

I would consider this the front of the school, though it's essentially the back of the building, (at least to me) But generally the layout and architechture of the school is centralised around this building (Which happens to be the LOR[law] Building) This is also known as building 1 of the 70+ buildings in UQ, which means it was the first to be built. The sandstone walls are gorgeous aren't they?

And surprise surprise, a corridoor!

And this is the back/front of the Lor Building, aka Forgan Smith.

Apart from a whole bunch of libraries which UQ boasts about CONSTANTLY, we also have a bunch of museums (which nat shall explore with me when she comes) And outside the Art Museum lies this artpiece known as: Happy Ending.

Haha, cute right? Makes my day whenever I pass it.

I must say that despite the heat, Brisbane has the lovliest skies in the evening and mornings. This is Twilight (Edward!) haha. My hostel lies beyond beyond that building, which I have no idea is what anyways.
Cute picture time! Siyi and I attempted to make muffins with limited measuring devices and appliances. They turned out looking/tasting like huat kueh due to my bad agaration and Siyi's decision to buy brown sugar instead of white. This one accidentally turned out a baby. It's an 'accident', geddi? geddit? hurhur.....

Since we're on the topic of faces, I rammed my leg into the bus chair that day and ended up with this horrible scratch :( Pouts. Even the wound is pouting la!
Haha, have a good week everyone. The days pass so darn fast. I'm starting my clinic observations this Wednesday at the hospital! :D Speech students go for clinical placements the earliest, damn cool la.

OK! OK!

Thousand apologies~ *Shakes head* no photos this time. I am still yet to take nice photos of the campus. I'm so sorry. I is suck.

BUt I've done so much fun stuff this week!!

For one, I went for Fencing class! It was achy and a demonstration of my horrible hand-eye coordination, plus I had a grossly small mask so my chin was shoved up my nose, but other than that, it was fun fulfilling my childhood dream of holding a not-very-sharp-and-pointy object at a guy in white and attempting to look cool and swa. (Failed miserably though, but at least in my head I felt like I was cool)

Second amazing thing was I went for Salsa class which was, quote my sister,

'better than Nachos'

geddit? Now you know where my sense of humour comes from ya? Haha. All right people when I get back I'm gonna go salsa clubbing!! Although all I know how to do now is step backward and forward and twirl in rhythm. I strongly encourage couples to take up Salsa, or individuals for that matter (though our Singaporean guys may not be as spontatneos and good at being partners) I realised that you can really tell a good partner especially in a dance like Salsa, according to the teachers, they call it a male ego-tistical-domineering dance. Basically the girls don't do much initiating and just follow the lead of the male like any other social dance. The guy who stays below me was an awesome Salser (my own rubbish term) Aiping Jerome! Please go learn salsa leh, you'll love it!

Thirdly I got lifted today during cheerleading! NO I haven't joined cheerleading, but we had a half day Health Sciences combined thingi organised for all the students in Health Science/Medicine etc so that we can network and get to know more people in the service. Quite a good attempt by the Uni I must say. It definitely did introduce me to more people. Well anyways, the thing was they made us do teamworky stuff like learn cheerleading moves and coming up with raps/rhymes. It so happened that I was in a group of 4 with 3 other relatively bigger angmohs, so naturally, even though I'm larger than all the puny stick thin girls in Singapore and all of Asia, I Was actually the one to be lifted and carried!

My goodness I felt like David Copperfield levitating at the edge of the Titanic man. Freaking cool, (Now I'm beginning to love this place because of the relativity) However I do wish the small tiny asians will stop spoiling market and making me look huge. HAha.

I very unclear picture of a spot on the campus where I was sitting down and nuahing at one day with Siyi and Lor friends. Ok promise promise this sunday I take nice nice photo

And my floormate/neighbour all dressed up as a Leprochon for St Patrick's Day one evening. It's another excuse to drink booze la.

Haha. Miss bubble tea!!!!

Sorry I haven't done this week's update!! Promise tomorrow!! Promise!!

The end of Week One! (Only!?)

It's the end of the first week of Uni, however it seems WAY longer than that considering pre-O week and O week. I've been here almost 3 weeks! And it still pretty much just feels like JC, only thing is that this time JC is further. But apart from that I've been calling my mum and she's been calling me pretty often, So I don't feel that disconnected after all. Few things I thoroughly miss:

BUBBLE TEA WHICH COST BELOW $2.
Cheesy Channel 8 Dramas with the horrible acting and cliche storylines
Being able to use the internet without worrying about bloody quotas
Being able to use my mobile without worrying about the credit left inside (I loathe prepaid)
Being able to nuah on a my sofa/bed not worrying whether it's dirty
Calling my friends and seeing them whenever and wherever, not in a place that's miles away
Flat ground. Stupid gah-ments seem to enjoy building tertiary institutions on hills. Look at NUS and UQ, I bet they pakat and decide that it's cheaper not to level out the land.
Drinks which don't cost as much as a meal in Singapore. Miniumum pricing here seems to be $3 for drinks and chocolates

Anyways, pictures! I have yet to take pictures of the campus. I keep forgetting to bring out the camera when I go out! Hence, today's pictures are mainly about.... my room and other miscellaneous things. heh heh...

As many of you know Australia's an extremely environmental and strongly encourage different sorts of sustainabilty programmes, and boy does this rub off. Instead of buying a pencil holder for $2....
Tadah!

Proudly constructed from a biscuit box and miserably decorated.
And since I forgot to bring a mousepad and it seems extremely ludicrous to actually purchase one, I made one in the effort to not spoil the very handy wireless mouse my sister gave me. I even talk to it when I'm lonely

Siyi and I were looking throught the classifieds yesterday as we were almost bored to tears on a weekend. I must say that the newspapers are the most hilarious and economical entertainment ever. I shall buy the newspapers every weekend, look at the stuff they sell/give away!!
I'm trying to convince Siyi to keep a pet chicken.
While she was looking and itching to buy a piano, look at the antiques we came across. (SHe may actually buy one of those if she gets desperate)

And it's not onl us Singaporeans who make silly spelling errors. Haha. (then again maybe it's a chink trying to sell the Larva Lamp)

And that's about it people!! I've already finshed using my 500MB quota, and it's only 8 March. Wth. I had fun matching stupidly printed clothes that I have one boring night in preperation of a costume. It was some superheros party, I was tempted to wear this and call myself the fashion police. HAHA
Love you guys!

Weekly update!

We had the most horrific, terrible, massively messy ragging last night. When the Aussies say 'Get messy', I've learnt that they REALLY mean messy. I thought we'd just be getting probably flour, water, eggs, mud at the most right?

Wrong.

Basically we had to go around in groups last night for station games, which, according to hostel 'tradition' and seniors, is supposed to be one hellova fun night, the funnest and dirtiest ever. The seniors were DAMN Smart to avoid the games and hover around watching us get messy man. There was one station where you had to cover as much body area as possible of a person with food colouring mixed with sunscreen lotion. Let's just say I looked like the Hulk's twin sister last night. My toes and fingernails are still freakin green la! And I think my pores are all so clogged with food colouring that I'll be bursting green pimples a few days from now.

At one stage we were floured, egged, watered, soapified, and some had beer, gunkified. And there was this HORRIBLE HORRIBLE green gunk we had to eat, I gulped down a cup (more like chewed and swallowed) only to learn later that it had spit in it too. FREAK. There was pasta, every single type of sauce in the kitchen, nuts, pieces of fruit, a whole lot more other crap which I can't think off, and it was green. The thing now is, the whole hostel smells of pasta puke, and it doesn't look like it's gonna be raining any time soon!

I miss reading the newspapers and watching TV! And $1.20 bubble tea! It costs at least $3.50 a cup here, and it's not even guaranteed to be nice!! wth!!

School's starting! omgomgomgomgomg. And it's STILL bloody hot. I'm steaming in my room, thank goodness I don't get any direct sun.

A bad panoramic picture of the view from Mount Cootha, kind of like our Mount Faber but way way colder.

Finally!!

It's a Sunday night down under and, as I promised, I'll update the blog. I realised today that keeping in touch and updating people is much much harder than I thought, cos sometimes you end up repeating yourself a minimum of 3 times(depending on how many good friends you have) and yet you feel bad if you do not reply individual emails because these people have put aside time for you. Plus as I've told many people, I have a sickening 400MB internet data quota, which in layman's terms is suckyly little and ngiao. I've decided to Skype people a maximum of once a week, and if I can afford it then more =) And I shall update the blog every weekend (cos that's the only time I reckon I'd have)

Pictures!!! The storage space in hostel is SUPERB (better than IKEA) and I so neat. I realised I need FBTs, I only brought 2 pairs sleeping shorts, 2 pairs of sleeping long pants. but now, since it's pretty hot, I GOT NOT ENOUGH SHORTS! Wah piang.

The first photo I took when I was there. I'm very slow with taking pictures and updating. My camera has taken less than 20 photos in the past 7 days in Brisbane. so sad.

See the picture I put up in the previous post? That's a picture of my desk before the printer came in. I just got a superb laser printer for $95, and they gave me half price of the toner! So I got it for $54!! SO cheap!! Can make the fella in Sydney juealous, muhaha) I'm having so much fun printing from my cute monster printer.

And my 2 most precious things!! Guitar+bolster=Bliss
(Yes that lump there is my baby bolster)
And what's my photo update without one of some -8 legged creature! Spider!!

And the hostel comm sneakily put up my namecard when I wasn't looking. Yes, ang mohs now officially know me as Diane. Long story behind the name. But the important/funny thing here is what's BeLow my name. It's damn funny. My mum's super paranoid, she's constantly reminding me to cover up that sticker with something as soon as I can!

Love you guys!! :D And I'm perfectly straight. =)

Suddenly...

I'm going to miss every one :(

Chiochio was such a chio today, talking cock (literally) with her pulled me out of my abyss of pissed-ful-ness. Seeing her kuku, I mean pretty face made me feel like slapping myself a little less.

I shall advertise the wonderful miraculous works of the Chio herself. Epitome of self-love, haha.

I can't possibly mention everyone I'm gonna miss here, it would be highly impossible and risky like MI4.

=( Pouts....

I miss our MRT system already!! Well I don't miss the sardine crowd, but our public transport is the ultimate (at least to me). I'm gonna miss the funky-smelling 106 which has been my staple bus of 2008. They should give me loyalty card.

I know I'm gonna miss our kopitiam's and food courts with cheap and good food. And miss the funny sights of table chope-ing tissue packets.

10 Days Till Lift Off!

These couple of days, I've been suddenly finding myself stressed and thinking: Holy crap, I'm about to fly off to a foreign land and start a whole new chapter of my life on my own. Holy Crap!! Wth was I thinking when I decided to do so?!

But then again I don't regret m decision one bit, well at least up to this point where I'm in the comfortable-est position of having m laundry done for me, dustbins being emptied and groceries being replenished. It's like having a genie around you without even realising until you suddenly find that you're on your own.

I suppose it won't be that bad, hopefully.

Anyways, in my pre-departure-shopping-excitement on Tuesday, I begged my mummy to buy me an alarm clock! It's freaking cute (and dangerously easy for me to squish and therefore oversleep all my classes)

But it's soooo mini and cute! But it ticks daaamn loudly, as f it were some grandfather's clock.I had 4 guitars in the house this morning!! ( And will continue to do so until the weekend) Meet the Stringless Classical, Piece of Metal Junk, Nat's brother's soon-to-be-wife, and My Baby. (From left to right)

SHOUTOUT: I'm selling the classical and electric because I don't want them to rot as I spend the next 4 years overseas, yes I'm finally parting with them. Anyone wants a spare guitar at home? Selling the classical for $30, the electric for $60. I'm seriously just trying to get rid of them before I leave or my mum will scream. So prices are negotiable. And yes, I'll be restringing the classical before I sell them.

So please PLEASE help me look around for any friends/family/animals who want to have a guitar around the house but aren't quite willing to spend more than 50 bucks. The classical is pretty good, much better than many chunks of wood you'd get for not less than 50. And the electric isn't that trashy either, it's an Aria, action a bit high but still pretty decent for beginners.

And I baked muffins today! The row of muffins with the funny symbols were a work of my sisters, she calls them vulgar muffins. Get it? Hahha...

Wah piang wey!!!

Looking at the magical pop-out-of-hat bunny helps me forget the fact that I just stupidly screwed the camera SD card upside down and have just lost the photos taken during the class bbq/dinner/whatever. (I'll post that video another time)

and I had the only copy of the group photo!

and it sucks that I feel like a complete bimbo complaining about digital shots lost to the world of technology, because, they are after all, just photos. But I was looking forward to FINALLY uploading pictures for people onto Facebook, especially when I'm probably not gonna see these people till June of the end of the year, I feel sooo bad because...

I've failed as a Facebook user. =(

Can't even upload pictures properly.shit man. I should get a geeky computer programmer boyfriend and a proper computer education.

13 days to departure! Holy crap!!!

My New Year Resolution!

I met Chio and the Manly Man (previously known as Fairy xiangwei) last weekend to offer makeover 'advice' for the Manly Man and unwittingly discovered a new year resolution I'd like to have.

I want to have a year of 'Firsts'.

This was stupidly inspired by a lion dance, the first time I'd ever stood in the crowd and pushed with the aunties to watch an entire lion dance act, Jumping on podiums included. I had never watched a lion dance so upclose before, especially one with the full electronic-moving-podiums works. And there were no irritating da tou wa wa (Big headed dolls) to annoy and scare the wits out of me.

The lion dance was so fascinating, I think I want to go all over Singapore now watching lion dances! (The lion backside so man one WorXxXxxx) Haha. I admire their endurance to keep their backs perpetually bent for 90 degrees as they follow the other dancer around, rising up occasionally only to carry the other guy on their legs, so man lor.

Lion Dancing should be part of the new NS regime! (You never know, it might work as a new type of warfare as well-Distraction)

We went to visit Oily's mum at the hospital, and boy is she a ray of sunshine! Despite all the shit she's plocked right smack in the middle of, she's extremely hospitable (even in the hospital), chatty, funny and sweet. What a doll =)

I Just Spent a Year Doing....

Almost absolutely nothing. I haven't entered a tertiary institute like most of my friends have, even those who have ALREADY decided to further their studies in Australia (because they have too much Marniee).

I haven't spent the year attaining Nirvana nor am I an ounce close to that.

As a typical female, I've experienced outrageous mood swings with oscillations that have similar frequencies to a hummingbird's flapping wings and amplitudes as vast as a Tsunamis, (non-physics students, you might be lost, click here)

I've earned the amount I wanted to earn, and spent some part of it on the necessary items for Australia aka this laptop.'

I've somewhat understood more about myself (like dduh) and that I sometimes dislike having to deal with emotions.

I've YET to pick up the third language which I wanted to for so long.

Worked in at least 3 different jobs with different scopes/skills required

grown fat and now have more than enough insulation to endure the cold winters I might come across, even those in the Artic Circle (no need for jackets! yay!)

hmmm, well, that's more or less it isn't it?

Oh yes, I've passed my driving, gone for lasik and taken off my braces, the 3 things that I promised myself to do before I left for Australia.

What have you done this entire year? There comes a time when we all grow up and exit the education system and find ourselves devoid of a goal at the end of the year besides whether or not you're getting that bonus your boss promised. Some marry, some have kids, some stay single as they like. For those who do have kids, very soon you enter the education system of your own children, and begin setting the accomplishments according to your child. Sometimes,

Anyways, pictorials! Something I always enjoy. =)

The Bunch came over for Lunch! Sorry the food wasn't very enjoyable though, you helped me much more than I helped you girls cos you were the guinea pigs! :D HahaHA.. My house hasn't been SO noisy in ages (Thanks to a certain 2 girls who were prancing and dancing)

A fake crimescene orchestrated by Nat, Tao and me for the camp! I think it was damn funny looking! Look at the dead guy's paunch!
And little little chocolate bottle liquorites (I have no idea what the hell I'm saying) Don't know what you call them, but they're freaking adorable! (Nat we should feed one to Kimtoing and see her get high. haha) Courtesy of my BIL(brother-in-law) Lionel!

Twilight

I bet a million other people have this as their blog title, and another million people have plastered this image on their blogs/diaries/livejournels etc. However I feel that my experience at this movie was a one in a million because this was the first time in my entire life that my stomach was knotted and queasy throughout 0.665 the movie. Not in a bad bad way though, it was just that I was caught by surprise by the storyline!

Ok, unknown to many (myself in cluded), I was actually practically clueless about the storyline and plot of Twilight. Initially when Shiyun mentioned it, I thought it was some remake of the classic Twilight Zone (you know scary music, ne ne ne ne, ne ne ne ne) Haha.. Then she enlightened me that it was a love story between a vampire and a human, (which to me was kinda funny since its like, a love story between a human and a piece of steak)

And knowing that it was more of a bimbo show for us girls to swoon at Mr Blood-Sucker, I envisioned something along the lines of Wild Child, but with less pink, blond and light.

Boy was I wrong.

It felt as if I had stepped into a roller coaster thinking it was a kiddy ride and coming to realise that there are a gazillion monstrous slopes and loop-the-loops. Plus Cathay took the initiative to make the movie experience a 4D experience by turning the airconditioning to sub-zero so that we could feel in the movie. Wah piang wey. The music so scary and the tension was beyond what I expected for a teenage-y chic-flick!

For those who havent watched it, I've concluded that if you have read the book, you'd probably say it was disappointing blah blah blah. But if you have not read the book, don't read it, watch the movie and then read it. (maximising entertainment value this way mah)

Happy New Year!

Holiday Season!!

Tis the season to be Jolly... and tired, and over-fed, and squished around with the 1 quarter foreign, 4 million Singaporeans.

It's Christmas Day and I haven't posted in AGES!!! It's season where suddenly every tertiary student is free because of his or her holidays, and how every (almost) one studying in Australia is back for their school holidays but somehow seem to disappear into the Christmas festive season of food shopping and partying. ( I miss dhab!!) this year I baked, and baked and busied myself like a Martha Stewart. (Oh my dream... poooi.) EVERYONE gets cookies this year because I refuse to buy overpriced trinkets and hiked up toiletries and over-recieved chocolates to people because people appreciate things only when there's a lack of them, so I shall wait for much much later (after the christmas season) to give out any presents( should I decide to buy any) so that they will be more appreciated and their value will hence go up. =) Understand? I'm blabbering. haha.
I just spent the entire of last week in church even though the annual church camp is only suppose to last 3 days. IT LASTED FOREVER I TELL YOU. Not that I didn't enjoy myself though because the kids from Kuantan came down. Basically, Kuantan people are ANGELS!!! The kids were Hilariously spontaneous and adorable as usual! Chio got herself a new Kuantan boyfriend too! Apart from the fact that the very intelligent games people planned an 'amazing race' in East Coast Park which spanned 4.8 Km and required 7.2Km of running/walking/stumblimg/cycling/blading/rolling, it was pretty fun. 7.2km leh!!! I've never seen that number in my life!!!

And if you guys aren't cheery and all and overflowing with the christmas mood, here's a photo to make you Happy~~@!

Chio and teh Rubiks Tube which she intitally gave to me but ended up giving her boyfriend :D

Homesick

I felt homesick that day.

How am I going to survive overseas!

There are 2 types of Singaporeans, the adaptable ones and the overlocalised ones who can't be bothered to assimilate but instead, bring their culture over and impose this on others. It's an overgeneralisation/sweeping statement of course, but if we don't catogerise and generalise, how would Man observe trends and be able to predict certain behaviour? Verbal diarrhoea, Oops.

Anyways meeting Ping, Fei and Jerome yesterday was hellova fun, it was the most fun since I met Nat's funny friends from her clique called the BSG (Black Sheep Gang) ((Long story, don't ask me.) Ping and Jerome are the most adorable couple you'd ever meet. Period. And they're freaking funny when they 'brag' about each other's gross habits. They're the kind of people you want at your party to bring the life out of everyone. (Perhaps the 2 of you can render your 'hype-services' to boring people parties to make marniee!!")

And for all of you who haven't watched Monty Python, this is my all time favourite favourite video~ a must see for all.

And Nat! Laugh yourself silly ok?? (Watch the other videos for more comic relief)

Technological Overload!!

Over the weekend I've made the 3 hugest purchases of my adolescent life with my own marniee. As you guys know my phone got lost in good ole' Kuantan, and unable to forget the memory of the one which was once so close to my heart (more like my head when I slept so that I could hear the alarm), I got the next sony ericsson phone which was most similar to the K800i. Not many regrets... yet. (But I forsee plenty of potential weak areas.) Cons don't change phone! Our phone really was Sony's best Cybershot phone ever.
All righties, moving on! I'm glad I finally got my laptop because I was afraid I would procrastinate so much that I would miss the Sytex fair! Wellll... I don't exactly regret my buy save for the fact that I feel that I got cheated of my RAM. I vaguely remembered that she offered to upgrade my ram, however it wasn't upgraded when I checked. However the reciept doesn't say anything about the upgrade and I bought my laptop after Nat and I had been walking for HOURS due to my fickleness and kanchiongness.

The third buy was the only buy where I felt a tinge of regret.
I blame the powerfully persuasive salesman and my sucker-ness. All you business students should meet him and learn from the sales guru. HAHA.

I watched Sesame Street with my sister this morning! It wasn't as nostalgic as the Disney cartoons Aladdin and all, but still fun to see the same actors who have been acting for decades. Plus that furry red monster who keeps refering to himself in third person. (I swear Elmo is Siyi's secret idol=P) There was a segment where Mary's little lamb was doing animal impressions and all the other furry monster classmates were suppose to figure out what those obvious animal sounds were. My sister failed miserably and guessed 0 of the 3 animal sounds. (She kept guessing sheep when it was a lamb making impressions of a cow, pig and chicken)
haha.
Gotta tell me how to get, how to gate to se-sa-me-street!!!!!!!!!1

Kuantanamera

First and foremost, I've lost my phone for good[For the first time I reckon].

However good news is I still have my SIM card (oh yipee.) hence, all you important-people-in-my life need to do now is sms or email or msn me your name/number. If you choose to put it on this tagboard also can la, though it may prove to be unwanted advertising.

Kuantan trip this round was the best I'd ever had!! :D Those taking care of us were sooooo hospitable that I feel that I've accumilated 4 more sets of parents. Plus, the shittiest food you can find in Kuantan is probably still nicer than the exhorbitantly priced ones you get at our food courts.

Apart from the fact that the stupid people from the bus company were so bloody cheapskate and dishonest as to steal my phone, I love Kuantan. ARgh. Stupid person who stole my phone. Ok I admit it was my fault for leaving it in my hand and it was my fault that I didn't pee earlier and hence rushed off the bus without first checking if I had left anything behind. But I've met taxi drivers and security guards who so nicely return the phone to me when I leave it behind in Singapore. Gah. Hope that fella's hand drops off and he pokes his eye with his toe.

Disappear from the face of this Earth.

Wouldn't that be something?

But this is a DEFINITE Must watch!!!

Bahhh!

The lyrics in the song below are the selfish words I'm belting out. I'd be lying if I say I totally don't give a damn to the comments of others, especially towards my appearance. It's bloody frustrating and demoralising when every single person you meet whom you haven't met in a long time starts the meeting with 'Ah you've grown fatter!' or 'You seem bigger' or 'you've put on weight' or 'maybe it's because you're big sized'. Talking about someone's weight gain is a downright no-no to me, it's like commiting a mortal sin towards the person. How'd you like it if I came up to you and said your nose grew exceptionally large and out of proportion and is now sticking out of your face like the empire state building? How'd you like it if I came up to you adn said you have a belly so dense that a mobile phone would get lost in the abyss if it went in? How bout how short you are that everyone has to look over your head and that even a 6 year old would beat you to holding the overhead handrail on a bus. Or that your so shapeless and flat like a 'credit card' (quote Barbarella Chantelle Bill) you are? Say I'm fat once I may forgive you considering that it maybe 'instinctive' to do so. But repeat it and I'll never talk to you again.

Picking on a person's appearance is as shallow as puddle of water. Fine that maybe the first thing people observe considering that visual input is the first to be analysed, but can't you control your tongue before blabbering off like a insensitive cow? Don't worry, my 'you's do not refer to anyone in particular, it's just my repressed self coming at every single person (although I cannot remember all the people) who said I've become fat/fatter/bigger/larger/whatever. Since I weigh in like an elephant I might as well have it's memory and remember the people who have very politely overlooked the extra kilos I've piled on and the strangers/family members who so randomly and encouragingly say I'm cute. Compliments can do wonders for people did you know that? I'm not much of a complimenter and hence can't tell people what they should say, but I'm aware of what it can do and am trying to compliment people more.

they say people who think their fat stay unhealthy and fat. Then tell everyone telling me I'm fat to stop making me think/know so and I'll stop wallowing in self-hate. I tell myself now, it's now getting past the initial stage of drastic weight gain, re-meeting old friends, family members(whom I will see in 2 weeks time and can be very sure that my appearance will be mentioned by all 5+ people in the household)

Argh!!

Yes if you can't tell, apart from being fat I'm currently now extremely pms-y, cranky and on the verge of stepping on people, hard.

IT's good to get that anger out once in a while.

NOVEMBER

Gasp! It's November!!!

Sorry Dhab haven't replied your tag because I haven't asked them what they want, haha, I can't think of anyhting I want considering I 'm soon joining you down under in the land of expensive products. Haha.

I'm planned to enter semi-retirement this November, but looks like jobs just keep popping up, and hence studying gets procrastinated once again. I'm not ashamed to say that I am SO going to be a nerd and work my ass off in Australia hitting the books and earning my keep part-timing because if I don't come back with a first class honours or anything else higher than that [i.e. grant or bursary etc], I would just be like a JP Morgan investment made by my mum.

I'm going to tell the Australian gah-ment that I promise to mug and mug and study hard hard and not be a waste of their Australian air. And I promise that after that I will not steal their jobs because my mum will drag me back to sunny Singapore to live/work for the rest of my life. Hence working my ass of the next 4 years would be good because I've heard plenty of people going overseas and not coming back because they can no longer deal with working hours which extend beyond 4.59. It's like training for a marathon.

And I just watched Avenue Q!! I shall review it tomorrow or else it'll be a very long post.

I feel that everyone should watch it, but before that watch youtube versions so that you won't miss out on the hilarious script because it'a a generally fast paced, compressed/compact musical. Aiya tell you all more tomoorow.

time Flies

I've finally decided to settle down and have kids.

If that were true then the title of this post would REALLY be apt. haha.

After spending the last 10 months part-timing around, finally the once distant reality of me flying off keeps nearing. I suddenly realised that, By JOve I have 3.5 months left before I begin my tertiary education! Which is really really worrying to me because I think I have practically lost my mental capability of studying and remembering obscure yet important facts. I make a directional mistake almost everytime I drive now, e.g. turning into the wrong highway, going into the wrong lane and swerving out on the chevron marking, etc. I just can't seem to register things like roads, directions, facts, what not. And it's driving me INSANE!

So today I'm embarking on my new mission to restart my gears. Yes I'm going to start studying whatever subject there is to study. Linguistics, Psychology, Biology, anything.

Another thing about time flying is that I've finall come to the end of teaching my tuition kids.

They were such the unexpected loveliest bunch of kids! I still remember the initial few lessons where you guys were all s0o0oo00 quiet. (For a moment I thought I was spending all my energy on something that wasn't alive leh!) I guess after you guys began to warm up, plus yokecheng coming into class suddenly released a whole tsunami of talking! And I enjoyed every minute of the funny comments and ideas you guys said, haha. (I enjoyed even more marking funny answers on your worksheets)

I regret not baking you guys cookies!

And oops I'm still in the process of typing the questions out for you all. I'm adding in a few more I found.

Jiayou for next year and the years to come ok! All of you have that smartness in you one, just that right now it maybe buried and not as obvious to your teachers through your results, but individually, I can see that you guys aren't dumb for sure (cos you all managed to answer the questions I asked you) haha, whether it's being sharp at details, or being inquisitive, or having a good sense of logic, all of that is in you guys! :D

All righti, pictorials~

The cupboard which I built!! Looks easy? The drilling was killer. PLUS, after I pieced the cupboard together, my mum told me she needed 2 more huge holes at the back. Wah piang wey. But we managed it with quite some trauma and no injuries.

Melamine MelamineMelamineMelamine. bad engrish as usual of Sweettalk. The last one was 'Water Cheatnut' instead of 'Water Chestnut'.

And she jsut looked so cute and random in the middle of the floor. She's currently the youngest daughter of a mum who has 5 daughters and 1 more on the way! So essentially, she's no longer the youngest. 6 daughters!! How lovely is that??

I hate PMS!!!

Yesterday I had a record breaking 5 people who consecutively told me I was fat/getting fatter.

*emos to oneself*

BUt my colleague had a really funny statement of comfort, she said, (she's filipina) 'at least you get big eberywhere, and not just your head, or arm, or this part or that part... '

Haha, I couldn't help but laugh at her futile attempt to ease my pain.

I always tend to stop work at all the wrong times. Argh. fixed

Traumatised

What's more traumatic than shooting in a reverse bungee, diving with the great white sharks, dropping your new $400 handphone or looking into your kitchen sink and seeing a dinosaur-of-a-lizard?

I tell you:

Handling a power Power Drill in the comfort of your home without supervision.

Wah lau the sound of the drill so scary la! I ge-gao-ingly (act-clever-ly) decided to help my mum drill through the softboard backing of her new television shelf for her to put her VCR wires through when she sets it up. I took my time tto read through the instructions of the power power drill ( I keep saying power power because I think it was super power la) And I can bet that all these power tool manufacturers have no EQ man. Either they're really smart enough to know the redundance of instruction manuals to guys because the instruction manual I was looking at was so darn sparse compared to the one you find with IKEA's furniture that I might as well just fired myself off into assembling the drill shit and all. They think everyone who operates a drill has enough testosterone and egos big enough to allow them to operate a dangerous tool without first looking at instructions la!

So with bated breath and sweat forming at every single pore on the surface of my body, I drilled stupid holes into the softboard. Compared to my secondary school years I think my drilled holes look nicer and straighter, but wah kao eh, damn stressful la!! I bet I lost more sweat than the F1 drivers after a race.

Now I need to find sandpaper.. Wah kao.

Sorry I just can't stop cursing

Wah piang eh, drill so scary lor.

New kids on the Block!

This is the new craze I'm having, check on the dimples on the lead singer Ngak! (sooo to die for!) The first 5minutes of the video maybe quite boring if you can't understand chinese at all, so just skip to the 5th minute or so and listen to their version of ji ba ban. Cons you'll so love this! (and his dimples!)

Laggy Post!!

I'm back!! (For the past 2 weeks) Just that I started work so soon after I touched down that I didn't get the chance to upload my photos from the phone only till 3 days back and again didn't ge the chance to blog about the trip till now.

I woke up at 11 today!! How fantastic that feels every once in a while. All right, so lets get down to business. Made a trip down to look at UQ plus hopefull set my mum's mind at ease so that she doesn't pack up and leave with me, however this trip shot me in the foot in some ways. For instance, she's now decided to come down with me for the first few days to help me 'settle down'. I shall not dwell upon that because I know that most people don't share my viewpoint on this matter.

So... the school was gorgeous! I always had this ideal image that Unis overseas would be full of lucious green fields, great architechture and students walking about worry-free with a perpetual smile plastered on because they truly are happy, birds chirping and butterflies singing.... Oops. yes that was Utopia in my mind and I never expected UQ to be actually close to this. It isn't really like that, but it ain't far off either. (THey had this HUGE lake in school! And green green grass!!) Omg I sound like a cow who can't wait to chew the school field barren.

Lucky Siyi, this is the Law building. It was so huge that I tried to get a picture of it from the outside, not a very nice picture because I thought, hey, I'm gonna be there for 4 years, surely I'll be able to get better photographs, but this one's just a carrot hanging on a stick for Siyi. Hehheh... Sandstone buildings!!

While in Brisbane we met Lionel's Aunt and her daughter Shyanne and her cousin Kelvin. There's nothing more adorable than a couple of Asian kids blabbering in an Aussie accent about thigns you're clueless about and yet they get each other perfectly. My sister took videos of their funny antics, I'll post them up once she gets them out of her camera. They're sooo adorable!!
Plus Shyanne's dad cooks the BEST chinese/vietnamese food in the entire world I swear. We ate there 2 consecutive days and didn't get sick of it. We never got enough of it in fact!

Now we went off to Gold Coast on Thursday. This is the carpark of the famous Movie World! You see those 2 things sticking out in the air?? Those are the 2 newest rides Batman something and Superman something. Freakin' high!!!

Here's the superman one from a closerup shot. If you notice, despite perspective faults, the slope going down is almost perpendicular to the ground. Actually, it is! I cannot describe the amount of adrenaline in my blood that day, I think I would've burst! But Superman was fantastic, they accelerate you from 1-100km/h in 2seconds. TWO SECONDS LEH! You feel like your heart is left behind (somehow this cliche line seems only apt in this context) Following this killer slope is a series of other less killer slopes but at killer speeds. Soooo. That's Superman. a must try for all going to Movie World in time to come.

More random pictures, Here's my mum acting as the funka' mama.

Back to Sunny Singapore, aren't these shoes gorgeous?? New Balance's new series! Sadly they're all men's shoes, but they're extremely affordable at their factory outlet at Comtec, this ulu building at Harbour front. Any of you people need $40 sports shoes??
